Cornish Metals: Well positioned to capitalise on rising tin prices

Cornish Metals is a mineral exploration and development company focused on its United Downs copper-tin project and the South Crofty tin project in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

The company aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for ethically sourced tin and copper; metals fundamental to growth in the technology sector and transition to a low carbon economy.

The near-term strategy is to focus on exploration and delineation of the near-surface high-grade copper and tin mineralization at the United Downs project. (, , ) has added experienced Cornwall mining engineer Stephen Gatley to the board as an independent non-executive director.

A mining engineer and graduate of the Royal School of Mines in London, Gately spent the early part of his career working in the Cornish tin industry at both Wheal Jane and South Crofty mines and was the General Manager at South Crofty at the time of its closure in 1998.

After next working for Rio Tinto in senior positions at underground base metal mines in both Europe and South America, he joined Lundin Mining Corp, where he provided technical oversight for its operating mines and growth initiatives including acquisitions and construction of underground and open-pit mines.

Gatley said he was pleased to be joining a company focused on restarting the Cornish mining industry “and I look forward to bringing my technical underground mining experience and local knowledge to bear”.

Cornish Metals Inc (AIM:CUSN, TSX-V:CUSN, FRA:ZYR1, OTC:SBWFF) has updated on its agreement to restructure the deferred consideration due for the South Crofty tin mine in Cornwall.

The company is working to provide the supporting documentation as required by the Venture Exchange in Toronto.

Cornish Metals Inc (AIM:CUSN, TSX-V:CUSN, FRA:ZYR1, OTC:SBWFF) expects to be fully funded to complete a maiden JORC resource estimate at the United Downs copper-tin project, subject to drilling success, the exploration company said as it released its interim results.

The company, which raised a GBP8.2mln when it listed on AIM in February, had C$10.14mln (GBP5.9mln) in cash at the end of July. Losses for the six months to end July extended to C$1.1mln from C$0.8mln in the year-earlier interims.
