Gfinity PLC (AIM:GFIN) increased revenues by more than a quarter in its latest financial year as income from digital media (DGM) surged more than five-fold.
The esports specialist has pivoted to building its own communities, player hubs and technology and this was the future for the group and gaming said chairman Neville Upton.
“The real growth area is now grassroots competitive gameplay. Connecting with players and fans through engagement hubs that deliver entertainment, competitive play and chat forums is essential for game publishers as they look to extend the lifecycle of their games.
“This is equally important for brands and sports rights holders seeking ways to broaden their reach and better collect and utilise first-person data.”

Gfinity PLC (AIM:GFIN, FRA:3GF) has reached a deal with Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company which is the operator of an esports event.
The Coca-Cola COPA Challenge will be a new competitive gaming tournament which will see gaming influencers compete against one another, on the Football Manager game. It will be a month-long competition on the highly popular football manager simulator, running through the month of October, and, will include eight digitally broadcast shows.

Gfinity (LON:GFIN) is buying a statistics, analysis and news site devoted to the Rainbow Six Siege hit tactical shooter video game in an all-paper deal.
The e-sports and gaming group is handing over 9mln shares worth GBP396,000 at current prices for SiegeGG Corporation – its third major acquisition in nine months.

Earlier this year, the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown measures around the world slammed the brakes on most live sport, with football matches, motor racing and other events postponed as the world battled the infection.
During the period, esports events stepped in to fill part of the void created by the absence, with esports media group Gfinity PLC (LON:GFIN) partnering with Formula 1 to host the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix, a series created to enable fans to watch Formula 1 races virtually using the F1 video game franchise.

Gfinity PLC (AIM:GFIN) CEO John Clarke joined Proactive’s Stephen Gunnion to discuss annual results, which saw revenue increase by 27% to GBP5.7 million, driven by a 768% increase in revenue attached to Gfinity owned and co-owned properties.
Clarke telling Proactive that the company has continued to embed itself into the gaming ecosystem by providing unique esports solutions and establishing a highly engaged community of gamers through the Gfinity Digital Media Group (GDM) and its proprietary technology IP.
