1 – Pass the Deutschey pon the left hand side
The idea that the UK will be ready in two years to accept wholesale legalisation of the drug a la Germany, or Canada, is frankly, laughable at the current pace of change – Ian Lyall takes a look at the obstacles in the way for legal cannabis in the UK.
2 – Greencoat is flush
Investors are throwing money hand over fist at renewable energy opportunities, with UK listed Greencoat UK Wind the latest success story – landing GBP450mln in an oversubscribed funding round.
3 – Hochschild rebound
Marxism evidently has its limits (and stop-losses). As our mining expert Alastair Ford highlights the jobs and the taxes provided by miners like Hochschild are useful to governments – capitalists holding the London-listed shares will be relieved to see the price rebound, on the ‘official communication that the government is committed to upholding the rule of law’.
4 – FTSE 100 closes quiet day higher
The FTSE 100 closed higher on Thursday, as US markets took a breather for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The UK blue-chip benchmark finished up around 24 points, or 0.33%, at 7,310. The session low was 7,286 and the high 7,311.
5 – Seraphim investment in space for good
There’s more to modern space business than Elon’s race to Mars and Bezos strapping Billy Shatner to a giant rocket, some ventures seek more earthly benefits. One such example is Astroscale, a leader in ‘orbital sustainability’ and recipient of a US$12.5mln investment from the Seraphim Space Investment Trust, which is spotlighted in Proactive today by Oli Haill.
